Ren and Stimpy – Adult Party Cartoon
Ren and Stimpy are two Nickelodeon characters who first appeared on television in 1991. The American television series Ren & Stimpy is a creation of John Kricfaluci for the Nickelodeon media outfit that had the main characters as Ren Hoek, a Chihuahua, and Stimpson J.Cat, a dim-witted cat. It was officially launched in 1991, August 11 to be precise, being the same day Doug and Rugrats made their debut on TV screens.
The animated series was on for 5 seasons and was a source of controversy owing to its off-color humor, toilet humor, sexual innuendo, violence, and black comedy. Despite the criticism, it has been described as the leader in terms of satirical animated shows that has the likes of Beavis and Butt-Head and South Park in the category. The adult version of the show came in Ren & Stimpy “Adult Party Cartoon” and it was on Spike TV in 2003 and of course, received little viewership leading to the cancellation of the show shortly after its debut.
The main characters of the show are Ren and Stimpy. Ren is a chihuahua with weird body features which included ears like that of a donkey, floppy body, red eyelids, pink tail, and neon-pink eyes just to mention a few. It would normally call Stimpy an idiot and bully him around. From this brief description, it can be gathered that Ren is spiteful, easily irritated, and hyperactive. His ambition was having huge pectoral muscles. The voice was originally done by Kricfalusi but later, Billy West took over after the former was fired.
Stimpy was the talented and intelligent musician that was cheerful though idiotically, and loyal to his friend Ren. The fat cat had a blue nose, purple eyelids, and no tail which are some of its weird features. His brain that measured the size of a peanut did not hinder its talent and intelligence. It could, however, be blamed for its continued loyalty and friendship with Ren who will constantly abuse Stimpy physically and verbally. Billy West did the voice of the cat in the Nickelodeon series.
Ren and Stimpy were not the only ones to make an appearance in the show though other supporting characters only appeared in a few episodes and some appeared in just one. And while some of these characters had their appearance having effect on the plot, others were not as fortunate.
Some of these characters include George Liquor, Powdered Toast ManMuddy, Mr. Horse, Mr. and Mrs. Pipe, Abner and Ewalt, Svën Hoëk, and a host of other characters who all came together to ensure viewers all over the world have 5 seasons of funny and entertaining television viewing.
