The short cartoon series were actually a parody of the famous spy movies of that time with the James Bond films being particularly satirized and Secret starred as the Agent 000, something like the 007 of the James Bond films.
Secret had a superior in Double-Q who was voiced by Paul Frees and the both of them were secret agents working for the International Sneaky Service. Morocco Mole was the squirrel’s assistant with both characters fighting crimes and evil agents with the use of a number of spy agents and cunning techniques. The squirrel and his partner also used a machine gun cane and a variety of guns hidden in his trench coat, and some devices which he hides in his fedora.
Secret Squirrel had an enemy in Yellow Pinkie, with Hy-Spy being introduced in the later part of the cartoon series as an enemy who was a master in scientific criminology.
The squirrel made a somewhat revival in the Super Secret Squirrel show in 1993. The Secret Squirrel can be described as the most popular squirrel ever as TV stations kept bringing back the cartoon series that featured the character and it made another return to the TV screens of viewers on the 31st of August 2009.
The revival series of Secret Squirrel saw the traits and characteristics of a number of characters in the series switched especially as it concerns Double-Q and Secret Squirrel.
The Secret Squirrel made some appearances in other works with other cartoon characters emphasizing the popularity and wide acceptance of the cartoon character. The cartoon series that also goes with the name of the main cartoon character was made in different languages including French, Brazilian, Italian, and Spanish.
